The beginning

IF Espelunden started with Skovmoseskolen in Rødovre, committed parents and support from the Joint Municipal Disability Sports Pool. We started a karate class with 7 kids and a dream to become real bridge builders.

Growth

We won the lottery! The National Board of Social Services invested in us and in the years 2016 - 2018 we received support for Project Kickstarter. With a 25-hour project manager position, things were moving fast from there. Those were some wild years!

Regional

We now had all the goals and more. 14 teams and 150+ children into club life. IFEL were now real bridge builders. But not really big and not small anymore... this period was a bit difficult. What to do?

Nationwide

The decision to go national started with a 'transitional' name: IFEL Specialsport. With volunteerism and patience, we grew in the Capital Region, Funen & the Islands and Aarhus - yay!

Now we were nationwide in three regions. Yeeha!

More growth

Now we were becoming 'real adults'. Name change to Specialsport.dk. Then Egmont Fonden decided to invest in us and now we're getting really clear on our mission: All children in special schools in Denmark should have access to club life.
