- community life especially for you
We are a non-profit organization that gives children and young people with special needs and disabilities a better future when we hands-on help families with access to clubs and communities.
8 out of 10 special school children are not involved in clubs*
Many families find that sport is not an option for their child. That's why we work to make knowledge about specialsport accessible to everyone.
Our Specialsport E-guide provides an overview and information for parents and caregivers, as well as inspiration and desire for sports for children, young people and adults with special needs.
Many parents are rightly worried about failure for their children
That's why we focus on the challenges families face and on solving the challenges around access to sport with creative and concrete solutions tailored to the child. Which sport and club is the best fit? Is it a single sport, team sport or something else entirely?
We test solutions in practice together with parents, schools, municipalities and other partners.
Barriers to participation in sport for children and young people are different
Some need advice for club matching, for others we find concrete solutions between the family and the club. It can also be about finances or needing help with companionship. Or a slow onboarding and association startup.
Either way, we're ready to help you. Contact us on 6170 3060.
Why are sports and clubs vital to life?
Sports and clubs can give everyone great experiences, boost self-esteem and, not least, create lifelong friendships. This also applies to you as a child or young person who may normally be challenged to participate in communities or follow the activities. The fact is that when you practice being part of a volunteer community as a child, you become even better at it as an adult.
There are a wide range of benefits to physical activity and community associations:
- You’ll make more friends and be less lonely
- You’ll be happier and more satisfied with life
- You have fewer sick days and lifestyle diseases
- You often achieve more independent living and get closer to the labor market
- You are more likely to volunteer as an adult
There are obstacles – but there are also solutions and opportunities
At Specialsport.dk we can help with concrete solutions. It can be anything from finding the right sport, to a volunteer companion who can safely accompany you to and from the sport. We have helped many other children and young people with special needs to get involved in an active club life. That’s why we have a lot of experience and knowledge about how we can best help you.
Our goal is that all children and young people with special needs have access to an active club life.

And make a difference for all children and young people with special needs and disabilities
who need help - today!
Even a small contribution can make a big difference. You are helping us to help even more children and young people become
active specialsport participants, so they can have many great experiences for life.
Club
We love cool organizations that love diversity and quirky angles – also in sports.
We recruit, develop teams, and hold coaching courses for associations throughout Denmark. You can read more about it here.
Member
As a supporting member, you will of course also become part of the Specialsport family.
It costs just DKK 50 per year and you help give children and young people with special needs and disabilities access to association communities and thus life-changing conditions for life.
Sponsor
As a sponsor, you can support our efforts directly. This can, for example, be in the form of our small welcome gifts that all our ‘special sports children’ receive in connection with our initiatives.
There are so many possibilities. See how you can support us here.

What others say about Specialsport.dk
Thank you so much for your nice way of being and especially when things got difficult for him - it means a lot. See you again on Monday.
I am generally very impressed with the IFEL committee and approach to us specialized caregivers. High praise. It's open to everyone, including all ages. It's especially good that it's a "real" club that the teams are part of.
Number 3 sport was the right one. A huge thank you to IFEL special sports for continuing to follow up with us - even when there were long periods when it was just too difficult to think about sports and leisure.
